Mr Nuran Dissanayake together with CUP officials donated a Braille writer to Sewwandi on 4th February 2012. She is currently studying in Year seven at the School for the Blind, Ratmalana. Sewwandi is a beneficiary of the CUP Sisu Diriya scholarship and this donation will help her immensely towards her education.

CUP officials Harsha Gomes (Vice President), Nadee Dissanayake (Secretary) and Sewwandi's mother also participated in the event.

The 14th Little Library was inaugurated by CUP on 29 January 2012 at the Dandeniya, Urugamuwa Purana Maha Viharaya in the Matara District. The main sponsor of the event was Sabeer Iqbal. Ranjith Dissanayake joined with CUP donating a name board. Dilhara Karunanayake, Harindranath Chandrasiri, and Charitha Dissanayake also donated books to the Library. Roshan Gunawardana extended his kind support providing transport facility to the team.

The 13th Little Library was inaugurated by CUP on 28 January 2012 at the Panagala Purana Maha Viharaya in the Galle District. The main sponsor of the event was WNS Cares Foundation. This project was co-ordinated by the Rotary Club - Colombo East. Dilhara Karunanayake, Harindranath Chandrasiri, and Charitha Dissanayake also donated books to the Library. Roshan Gunawardana extended his kind support to make the event a success.

The 6th Annual General Meeting of Children’s Upliftment Programme (CUP), was held on 9th December 2011 at Galle Face Hotel.

Guest Speaker Mr. Flavian Fernando, Manager Internal Audit, Save the Children in Sri Lanka, addressing the gathering stressed the value of serving the needy and commended CUP for all their activities to uplift the less privilege children in the country.

The concept of "Singithi Pothgula" - Little Library was introduced by CUP, in order to improve the reading habits and the creative writing among children. The 12th Little Library embarked upon by CUP was established at Sri Indrasara Sunday School in Walvasagoda, Gampola on 20th of November 2011. The children of Sri Indrasara Lama Samajaya will become the reader members who would immensely benefit from this little library.

The Children’s Upliftment Programme (CUP) was able to produce a greeting card as a part of its fund raising programme with the sponsorship made by Mr.Shanil Senarath, CEO, Ecell Printers. This attempt was made a reality through the untiring effort and support given by Mr.Lolitha Abeysinghe from the beginning to the end.

In Commemorating ‘World Children’s Day’ a financial donation was made by CUP to support the students of Sri Chandrasekara School for the Deaf, on 28th October 2011.Forty students were nominated as beneficiaries and they were gifted with new savings accounts maintained at the National Savings Bank. This worthy cause was sponsored by Mrs.R.Weerasooia.

The 11th Little Library under this project embarked by CUP was established at Ranwala, Godakawela in the Rathnapura District. The children of ‘Dimuth Lama Samajaya’ are the members who would immensely benefit from this little library.
