Singithi Pothgula at Methsevana (State House of Detention)

On the 01st of August 2009 and introductory programme on the concept of “Singithi Pothgula” – Little Library was conducted at Methsevana for the library leaders, members and their parents. This concept was introduced by CUP with the objective of improving the reading habits of children and the Singithi Pothgula at Methsevana is the fifth Little Library launched by CUP.
Educational Grant for another Child from CUP - Sisu Diriya

The Sisu Diriya
scholarship scheme of CUP has found a benefactor to assist Sahani Yasara in her
education.She was able to
pass Grade V Examination 2008 when she was at Piliyandala Central. Yasara
is presently studying in Grade 6 at Anula College, Nugegoda.
The
certificate and the first donation were given to Yasara by Mrs.Hemamali
Sirisena on 24th September 2009 at CUP Office.

Birthday celebration with children

Forty students of Somaweera Chandrasiri Vidyalaya,
Piliyandala were given gift packs by Mr.Manula Piyadigama on his birthday, 31st
August 2009. The students were selected on the basis of their marks of the last
term test. Mr.Piyadigama and his family, the vice principle, the staff
and the CUP Officials were present at the event.The CUP Team presented a plaque to Mr.Piyadigama,
appreciating his generous work for the needy children of our country.

The concept of "Singithi Pothgula" - Little
Library was introduced by CUP, in order to improve the reading habits among
children. This is the 5th Little Library project embarked by CUP.An introductory programme for the library leaders,
members and their parents was held at Methsevana on the 1st of August 2009. CUP
Officials Mr. H.Gomes, Mrs.N.T.A.Dissanayake and Ms. P. Gunathilaka were
present this event.

Little Dilendra, has volunteered to sponsor Sathsara
Perera of Mahanama College, Colombo 03 for his studies. The first instalment of
this donation was handed over at CUP Office on the 1st of August by Dilendra
Gunatilaka,.Sathsar's mother and Dilendra's father were present on
the occasion.
