Children's Upliftment Programme  (CUP), a charitable organization  dedicated to the cause enriching the lives of the needy children to bloom  up as worthy citizens  in our society, held their 4th Annual General Meeting at the Galle Face Hotel on the 15th February 2009.The following members of the CUP were unanimously appointed as Office Bearers of the posts indicated against their names, respectively.

Exercise books for 200 children on the 61st Independence day

CUP celebrated the 61th Independence day with a free distribution of exercise books for 200 school children resident in and around Kotte and Mirihana.It was the great love and compassion towards children that spurred Mr. W.K. Wilegoda to make the donation of exercise books to make this event a great success.

ANC donations for the Sirinanisuru Little Library - Ratmalana

The Little Library called Sirinanisuru at Ratmalana which was founded by the CUP is developed by the students of the American National College (ANC).The ANC Group made their preliminary visit this library on 23rd November 2008, and donated story books and a lot of other materials. With a great sense of understanding of the children’s capacity coupled with a keen interest on the ability of children creating their own story books, the ANC funded to conduct a series of work shops for the children who are members of the library, towards enhancing their reading, writing and literary skills.

Yet, another Social Service from CUP to Nambapana, Ingiriya

A library for the children who are members of  the Kekulu Lama Samajaya was established at Nambapana in Ingiriya by CUP on the 24th of January 2009. Books in both Sinhala and English, a cupboard and chairs were donated to the Lama Samajaya on this occasion.Free exercise books were also distributed to 65 children selected  from the area.

Three new members to Sisu Diriya Scholarship Scheme

Earandi Kaushalya, Pethum Dissanayake, and Gayathri Hansamala have benefitted under Sisu Diriya. The donor of these 3 children is Mrs. Rani Weerasooria. The certificates and the first donation  were given  to the children by Mr.I.Ranatunga on behalf of Mrs.Rani Weeresooria on 24th January 2009.
