Donation of a Personal computer to Sri Nandasara Singithi Poth Gula

A generous donation of a Personal computer has been made by Children's Uplifment Programe (CUP) with the assistance of Virthusa, Sri Lanka, to Sri Nandasara Singithi Poth Gula, Ihalayagoda on 28th December 2008. The CUP Officials Ms.N.T.A.Dissanayake – Director, Mr.S.Ediriwickckramasuriya – Director, Mr.Harsha Gomes- Member, Mr.Ashoka Wijethunga, and Mr.Gayan Karunarathna were presented at the event.

A free distribution of exercise books

A free distribution of exercise books was made by the children of Sri Nandasara Sunday School, Ihalayagoda on 28th December 2008. This donation was made by Mr.W.K.Wilegoda and the CUP Officials Ms.N.T.A.Dissanayake – Director, Mr.S.Ediriwickckramasuriya – Director, Mr.Harsha Gomes- Member, Mr.Ashoka Wijethunga, and Mr.Gayan Karunarathna were presented at the event.

Eye Camp for Children

To mark the World Sight Day, the CUP organized a special Eye Camp for children,on 25th October2008, at the Parama Visuddharamaya Temple, Katuwawala. A total of 77 children were screened to check their vision by qualified opticians and 30 children were detected for vision correction by providing spectacles/further special treatment. The Eye Camp was funded by Mrs.Rani.Weerasooria, Member- CUP, a generous benefactor for children's welfare activities.

Gee Sithuwam 2008

“Gee Sithuwam” was a competition held weekly by the Children’s Upliftment Program (CUP) Organization for school children with collaboration of “Mihira” Children’s paper during last three months. In this competition children were requested to draw pictures for the songs published in the Mihira Paper. The three most outstanding drawings were selected weekly and a further 30 winners out of around 500 participants were listed for awards at a prize giving.

Another Little Daughter to Sisu Diriya

Samudika with Ms. N.T.A. Dissanayake – Director Sisu Diriya Scholarship Scheme will make a real difference in a needy child's life and help to make the world a better place. Samudika, another little daughter was introduced to the CUP, Sisu Diriya Scheme on 15th November 2008. Ms. N.T.A.Dissanayake – Director, CUP is the caring sponsor for this girl. Thamali Samudika is from Chillaw and she has performed well in her school studies. Also she has awarded in the fields of music and art.
