The President, CUP, Mr.Lal Saranapala handed over the first installment to Tharupathi on behalf of Mr. Wijayapura at a simple ceremony held at the BMICH, Colombo 07 on 12 October 2013.

Creating Child Writers

CUP held their first Twoday Workshop on “Creating Child Writers” on 20th & 21st July 2013. The members of the Sudilena Little Library- the CUP’s 14th Little Library at Dandeniya in the Matara District. Twentysix members of this library were given the opportunity to take part in this workshop.

The Annual General Meeting of Children’s Upliftment Programme (CUP), was held on 17th July 2013 at Samudra Hotel, Colombo 03.

Singithi Katha -2012, organized by CUP in collaboration with Mihira Children's News Paper, was held at Victoria Masonic Temple on the 22nd of June 2013.

The twenty four winners were selected out of 724 participants from all parts of the Island.

The children of Kahambawa, Marawa, Monaragala were able to start a Little Library on their own with the support of CUP on 07th April 2013.The concept of Little Library is to enhance the ability of reading among children and also to encourage them towards creative writing. The children will get more opportunities to learn leadership skills, teamwork, organizing patterns and sharing with others through the experience gained in this project.Mr. Prasad Galhena, the Chairman – Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellary Authority is the key sponsor of this project. Mr. Chinthaka de Silva and Mr.Ranjith Dissanayake also made donations, in kind to make this Little Library a success. Mr.Roshan Gunawardena sponsored travel arrangements for CUP officials.

CUP successfully opened their 23rd Little Library with the students of Lak Aruna Foundation at Hingurukaduwa, Monaragala on 06th April 2013.The concept of Little Library is to enhance the ability of reading among children and also to encourage them towards creative writing.The member students of the library organized the opening ceremony and they were able to perform their talents to the gathering.Mr. Dinesh Perera, Mr. Sabeer Iqbal and Mr. Prasad Galhena are the key sponsors of this project. Mr. Chinthaka de Silva and Mr.Ranjith Dissanayake also made donations, in kind to make this Little Library a success. Mr.Roshan Gunawardena sponsored travel arrangements for CUP officials.
