The Childrens Upliftment Program (CUP) was able to donate sports items to the children of Vijaya Vidyalaya, Karagampitiya, Dehiwala, on 18th June 2009 at the request of the Divisional Secretariat- Dehiwala. The items are appended below:-
Children's Upliftment Programme (CUP) was able to organize a "Poson Dansela" with the children of Little Library of Nambapana, Ingiriya on 07th June 2009. This was an event design to motivate children towards a better future with a positive mind. A large gathering was the beneficiaries of the hospitality of the children.
A periodic appraisal conducted by CUP Officials at Nambapana Little Library on 7th June 2009. The children's contribution towards the library was assessed, and the children were able to discuss their problems in the library with CUP Officials.CUP donated 60 story books to the library.
Devmini and her parents visit Chandima and her family in their residence at Attidiya, Dehiwala, on 31st May 2009.Ms. Devmini Serasinghe, has come to sponsor Chandima of Dihiwala for her studies on the 23rd of August 2008. Chandima has performed extremely well in her studies and she was able to score more marks in the last term test,(march 2009) held at the school.CUP officials Mr. Harsha Gomes and Mrs.N.T.A.Dissanayake participated for the occasion.
Education is a continuous process and there is no end. We keep learning from cradle to grave. There are certain essentials necessary to learn, early in life, in order to keep pace with the ever-changing world. Information Technology (IT) is one such essential, which is of paramount importance to introduce to children in their primary stage in life.
Miss Samudhi Mendis has sponsored Saranga Indeewari of Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa to bear expenses in connection with her studies. The inherited talent shown by Saranga in drawing made her a beneficiary under the CUP Sisu Diriya Scholarship Project. The first instalment of this donation was handed over to her at Sri Bodhirukkarama Temple, Rathmalana on 29th March 2009 in the presence of her father and her sister.
Two children of Sgt. I.P.M. Wijewardene, a member of the Sri Lanka Army, who lost his life in the battle front at Elephant Pass on 07th January 2009 were offered two scholarships by the CUP organization.The children who received these scholarships were I.P. Pasindu Wijewardena, Primary school of Algama, Medagama and I.P Heshika Wijewardena, “Samanala Pre-School”, Algama.
CUP was able to donate exercise books for 80 children who are residents at Colombo East area on 15th February 2009. Most of the beneficiaries are well known personalities closely associated with the activities of CUP, and who have also participated in several Personality Development Work Shops conducted by CUP.
