“Sisu Diriya" scholarship programme is one of the main projects of CUP, which offers financial support to needy students in their education.
Students, selected based on their performance in education receive financial assistance for their education from grade 6 up to Advanced Level, by philanthropists who volunteer to sponsor a student.
Shehani Sewmini Bandara, a grade nine student of Remuna Maha Vidyalaya, Anguruwathota became the lucky recipient of this generous scholarship this time and she is sponsored by Mrs. Marina Nirmalanathan who is currently residing in UK.
On behalf of Mrs, Nirmalananthan , Mr.C. Obeyesekere handed over the first installment of the scholarship to Sewmini.
A simple ceremony to mark this occasion was held at the BMICH on 07th March 2015. The beneficiary, his parents and CUP Officials, Harsha Gomes - Vice President, Nadee Dissanayake - Secretary, Damayanthi Perera – Member, Gayan Perera - Member were present at the event.
