The CUP organized a project on designing picture postcards to bring in new hopes among the children who faced a traumatic experience by the Tsunami disaster.
About 50 Sinhala and 54 Muslim children from 02 Tsunami camps in Hambantota took part in the project which was funded by the Save the Children’s in Sri Lanka. The drawings depicted their experience and the feeling of Tsunami.
Cartoonist S.A. Dissanayake joined CUP in selecting the best entries. These drawings expressed how the children wanted Tsunami to take place without bringing in destruction to people.
The art competition was held on December 17, 2005 and the prize giving was held on December 31, 2005 in Hambantota.
The representatives of the Save the Children in Sri Lanka and CUP Officials Nadee Dissanayake – Director, W.P.Kalyani, S.A.Dissanakaye, Anula De Silva, Nandana, Gamini, G.G. Kapugama,Tharu, Priyankalal, and Achala Kumari were present at this event.
