The Children’s Upliftment Programme (CUP) has expanded its reach with the establishment of its 45th little library at Ambepussa, Neeththagama Sri Shilathalaramaya Viharaya. This initiative, supported by the Bosath Children’s Educational Foundation, aims to foster a love of reading among the Sunday school students of the viharaya.
The opening ceremony of the new little library was graced by the virtual presence of the founder of the Bosath Children’s Educational Foundation, Ven Bhanthe Chao Chu from Los Angles, USA. In his address, Ven Bhanthe Chao Chu emphasized the significance of reading books for personal and intellectual development. Dr. Nadee Dissanayake, the founder and secretary of CUP, also spoke at the ceremony, outlining the objectives of the little library program and its potential to inspire young minds.
CUP Vice President Mr. Harsha Gomes, Treasurer Mr. Nishantha Perera, and Assistant Treasurer Mr. Kapila Suranga were among those who attended the opening ceremony. The event was also attended by parents, who expressed their gratitude for CUP's efforts to promote reading habits among their children.
To celebrate the occasion, the beneficiaries of the little library organized a multi-performance concert, welcoming the guests with a vibrant display of talent. The establishment of this new little library marks a significant milestone in CUP's mission to promote literacy and education throughout Sri Lanka.
