CUP celebrated the 61th Independence day with a free distribution of exercise books for 200 school children resident in and around Kotte and Mirihana.It was the great love and compassion towards children that spurred Mr. W.K. Wilegoda to make the donation of exercise books to make this event a great success.

Mr. C. Pallegama, the Divisional Sectary, Maharagama addressing the gathering spoke of the value of free education, and that children should make full use of this rare privilege and opportunity to reap the maximum benefits out of it. Mr. M. Wathuregama , the Grama Niladari, Maharagama North, together with Mr. Jagath Kariyakarawana, Member CUP organized this event with in a very limited time schedule.

CUP Officials Mr. Harsha Gomes, Mrs. N.T.A. Dissanayake, Ms. Padma Gunathilaka and Mr. Ashoka Wijethunga were present on the occasion.
