CUP has ventured into the concept of Little Library with the intention of providing more opportunities to children in reading and developing the creative skills. Up to now eight such Little Libraries have been established by CUP, six in the District of Colombo and one each in Kalutara and Gampaha.
These libraries are getting well stocked with generous donations made by local donors. As an expression of his utmost regard for the concept of Little Library, Mr.L.Abeysinghe made a handsome donation of thirty English-Sinhala dictionaries on 17th October 2010 at the CUP’s Office.
Further, it was remarkable on this occasion, when Ms.Neema Nanayakkra, who had completed the GCE-A/Levels at the British School in Colombo, and presently planning to pursue a Degree Programme in Management at the University of Warwick, UK, donated in addition a batch of thirty English-Sinhala Dictionaries. This is the alternative she suggested to her mother Mrs.Amali Nanayakkara, to be done instead of a present that she would have had for successfully completing the GCE A/L examination.
This donation was made to the Hony. Secretary – CUP, N.T.A.Dissanayake, at the CUP’s Office, where Mrs.Amali Nanayakkara, CEO – Airtel Pvt Ltd. too was present.
