Even though it’s the 17th experience for CUP and 1st for the people at Kanadulla, everyone enjoyed the meaning of “Given and Taken” at its best.
The entire project is for the local children and the Lama Samajaya were highly involved and their parents who are municipal council workers also participated. Majority of the families are represented by Tamil community.
Member of the Parliament Mr Akila Viraj Kariyawasam addressed the occasion and highlighted the importance of having a library and use it. The only way to get out of current problematic life style is to study and to use a library were all over his speech. He ended his speech by promising that he will personally get involve to develop this Little Library.
M M Maznavi the treasurer of CUP made a great speech in Tamil language and mentioned the enormous assistance that one can gain from using a library.
Mr Bandula Karunarathna, Director, Art Decoration Private Limited is the main sponsor of this project. Mrs Rani Weerasooria donated a book cupboard to the library and Mr Ranjith Dissanayake joined with CUP donating a colourful name board. Asia Foundation – Sri Lanka, and Ms. Malathi Perera also donated books to the Library. Mr Roshan Gunawardana extended his kind support providing transport facility to the team.
Harsha Gomes – Vice President, Nadee Dissanayake – Secretary and Nishantha Perera – Executive Member companied the others by the CUP.
