‘Yodaya and Pandithuma’ two children’s comics of veteran writer and artist S.A. Dissnayake, eventually developed into a book as a fund raiser for CUP, was launched on 27.03.2013 at Mahaweli Centre, Colombo.

The Chief Guest Professor Ariyarathna Athugala, Director General, Department of Government Information and Guest of Honour Mr.Athula Ransirilal, Director, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation addressing the gathering stated that Mr. Dissanayake’s contribution to Lake House publications while working in Mihira, Navayugaya,Tharuni and Dinamina papers have been immense. They also stated that he later became one of the most popular children’s illustrators for creating much loved characters such as Punchiththa, Thulsi, Batakola Aachchi, Yodaya and many more. Mr. Ajith Dharmasiri, Chief Editor, Mihira Lake House Paper also addressed the gathering.

Although a simple ceremony there was a large gathering with special invitees, well wishers and donors of CUP and the Budawaththa Dancing Group added colour and glamour to the event.

The printing of the book was voluntarily sponsored by Mr.Shanil Senerath.

CUP Officials Lal Saranapala, Harsha Gomes, Nadee Dissnayake, Sunil Lakshmanasinghe, Rasika Udagama, Sakunthala Godigamuwa, Dilhara Karunanayake, Nishantha Perera, Sabeer Iqbal, Rohana Perera, Manjuma Salgadu and Rameda Darmasena were also present.
