“Sisu Diriya” scholarship programme, one of the main projects of CUP, which offers financial support to needy students in their education, reached its '100th beneficiary' recently.
Students, selected based on their performance in education receive financial assistance for their education from grade 6 up to Advanced Level, by philanthropists who volunteer to sponsor a student.
Vindana Gamalath, a grade four student of Handapangoda Navodya Maha Vidyalaya, Horana, became the lucky recipient of this generous scholarship this time and he is sponsored by Master Oshadha Udumalagala.
A simple ceremony to mark this occasion was held at the BMICH on 23rd May 2014. The beneficiaries, their parents and CUP Officials, Lal Saranapala - President, Harsha Gomes - Vice President, Nadee Dissanayake - Secretary, Nishanatha Perera – Assistant Treasurer, Damayanthi Perera - Member were present at the event.
