Mr. M. Piyadigama and family, who are domiciled abroad, have come forward to sponsor Malshi and Hashan of Polhengoda for their studies.The first installment of this donation was handed over at Rathana Arama Temple on the 19th of January 2008. Ven, Rathnapala - Chief incumbent of the Rathana Arama Temple, the CUP team, the two recipients and their mother were present at this occasion.

The concept of “Singithi Pothgula” (little library) was introduced by CUP, in order to improve the reading habits among children. This is the 3rd library project done by CUP.

A calendar project sponsored by Mr. Rajiv Dissanayake was organized for the children at Rathana Arama Temple, and these calendars were distributed among the children in the area on the 30th of December 2007.

A calendar project was organized for the children at the Alen Methiniyaramaya Temple, sponsored by Mr. I Ranathunga, Director, Bosath Children’s Education Centre.

Mr. I Ranathunga and his son Mr. Hasitha Ranathunga were present at the prize giving of the best 12 children who designed the calendar. These calendars were later distributed among children in the area.

The prize giving of the Personality Development Workshop series was held at Alen Methiniyaramaya on the 30th of December 2007. This event was sponsored by Sanasili Foundation and organized by CUP.

The winners received all items in their School book list for this year, Scholarships, Valuable other prizes and a certificate.

The entire event was successfully planned and conducted by the children; and the parents showed their support and encouragement by participating in this event.

This is a new concept introduced to CUP by the CUP Team

The objective is to raise funds by selling these greeting cards which were designed by children on various topics such as New Year, Christmas, Birthdays, and greetings and wishes for many other occasions.

The CUP 3rd Annual General Meeting was held at Alen methiniyaramaya on the 15th of December 2007 from 2.45 pm onwards.

Three new Directors were appointed at this instance, increasing the number of members in the director board from two to five.

Presently the CUP membership has increased to sixteen (16), with members from diverse sectors such as Marketing, Legal, HR, IT, Counseling, Social Work, Accounting, and Teaching.

As part of the Personality Development Programme a drawing competition to design a calendar for 2008 was held at Alenmethiniyaramaya Temple, Polhengoda. All the children were participated for this event and best twelve drawings were selected for the calendar. This project was sponsored by Hasitha International (Pvt) Ltd.

Singithi Sithum finalists were short listed on 8th November 2007 at Rivira Media Corporation. For this event CUP officials and Rivira staff were participated. The winners will be invited for the prize giving in due course.

Gifts were presented to the finalists of the art competition to design a calendar for the year 2008. This competition was held for the children who are residence of Kalinga Watta, Polhengoda.
