Nikawehera - one of the remote multi-religious villages due to its diverse ethnic mix of people originated and settled from various parts of the country.
Nikawehera Primary School is surrounded by students from 400 families in the area. From the warm welcome in the morning till the end with great farewell, the whole session was filled with Affection, Joy, Emotion and fullness from students and their families. The extreme support given by the teachers in the school was second to none.
A group of students got together to help CUP ‘Little Library Project’. They are Kavindya Allahakkoon, Golda Perera and Dulanjalee of Royal Institute Colombo, Shehan Rodrigo and Sheron Rodrigo of St. Joseph’s College Colombo and Amritha Allahakkoon from Colombo International School.
Realising the value of helping their peers who are not privileged as they are, these students were looking for a way to lend a helping hand.

Piyumi Srimali studying in Grade eight at Sri Sumangala Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura was selected to receive funds under the ‘Sisu Diriya’ Scholarship Programme of CUP.
Mr Nuran Dissanayake together with CUP officials donated a Braille writer to Sewwandi on 4th February 2012. She is currently studying in Year seven at the School for the Blind, Ratmalana. Sewwandi is a beneficiary of the CUP Sisu Diriya scholarship and this donation will help her immensely towards her education.
CUP officials Harsha Gomes (Vice President), Nadee Dissanayake (Secretary) and Sewwandi's mother also participated in the event.
The 14th Little Library was inaugurated by CUP on 29 January 2012 at the Dandeniya, Urugamuwa Purana Maha Viharaya in the Matara District. The main sponsor of the event was Sabeer Iqbal. Ranjith Dissanayake joined with CUP donating a name board. Dilhara Karunanayake, Harindranath Chandrasiri, and Charitha Dissanayake also donated books to the Library. Roshan Gunawardana extended his kind support providing transport facility to the team.

Roshan Gunawardana extended his kind support to make the event a success.
